Instead of sleeping, I'm marveling over how many Lifehouse songs are inspiring me to write fanfics.
I really need to stop. At this rate, everything will be a song-fic. Unless I just.. yunno, take the lyrics out. That might just make them.. fics.
I swear I'll go to sleep as soon as Spybot finishes. D:

| RIP Laptop Battery |

My laptop battery has officially kicked the can. I knew it was going to happen soon, since it would only sporadically charge after I had popped it out, let it sit for 15 minutes, and then replaced it. But even then, it wasn't a surefire thing. I got away with doing it for a while though, but now it has to stay on the charger every second it's on.
That means that if I want to stop burning my legs (it overheats if it's plugged in and on), I have to shell out roughly $150 for a new battery. Granted, it IS through Dell, and even though you can get replacements cheaper.. I've experienced how long those replacements last firsthand. It's hit or miss, and I can't risk wasting money.
I did this to myself.
Instead of charging, using it while it was unplugged, charging again, repeat.. I kinda just kept it on the charger whenever it was on. I think I inadvertently melted it or something. In retrospect, I should have realized that it was happening - it would heat up to unbearable temperatures, that couldn't be good - but I couldn't be bothered to get off of it long enough to charge it. It only had a couple of hours of life to begin with (faulty battery maybe? I though you were supposed to get more than that), so.. it would have been an inconviencnce. What I SHOULD have done was popped the battery out when it was finished charging and kept it on the charger. Maybe have invested in a cooler because of the overheating thing.
Oh well. Until I save up the money for a new battery, I'll just have to deal with the whole burning me thing. The weather's been pretty gross lately, too. If the power goes out, no lappy for me. D:
In other.. non-battery news, I will no longer be cosplaying Mukuro from Reborn! Instead, I will be doing Gokudera. Carrie likes the Tsuna/Gokudera pairing better anyway, and I don't think I would have ever been able to make his trident. I wouldn't have really felt complete without it. And I wouldn't have wanted it to be half-assed, either. I'm only relatively new to prop-making, so busting out the trident for my first prop would have been pretty much impossible. One day I'll do Mukuro. Maybe when I feel more confident in leather. :P

| My room smells like dirt |
[27 Jul 2009|09:29pm] |
I finally changed my toad's tank setup. I've been meaning to do it for months but only just got around to doing it. It used to be an all-water setup with a landing for the crickets and a filter. But.. the crickets liked to hop. Into the water. And drown.
Well, I got fed up enough from the wasted crickets and shelled out $18 for a huge water bowl for them to hang out in, $10 for moss, and another $10 for a bag of dirt. ( Here are the results. )
I.. can't tell if they like it better or not. I do know that they're fond of jumping into the bowl, getting soaked, and then jumping into the dirt. After hopping around for a while, they jump right back into the bowl, effectively muddying it, as seen in the pictures. Those were taken about ten minutes after I finished setting it up. I'll just have to rinse it every couple of days. OH WELLS.
It is making my room smell like a forest though, and I can't decide if that's an improvement or not. My mom sure as hell doesn't like it. She stuck an air freshener right next to the tank. I think I'll be switching to river stones or something similar tomorrow.
OH. While I'm pic-spamming, I figured I'd share the loot from Otakon. If you can call it loot. ( It's just two things. )
Let me tell you, internets, I was so thrilled to find that plush. The phone strap, too. They were both the only ones in the whole dealer's room. You can see the hole my brother drilled, too. And my foot, apparently.

I don't quite know how I found it, but it's pretty much swimming with all of the Kuroro/Kurapika I'll need for the rest of the night.
DOES MY HARD DRIVE HAVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR ALL OF THESE PICTURES? I GUESS WE'LL FIND OUT.
EDIT: Ohgodohgod it links to other SITES! With MORE STUFF.
Sleep is overrated, anyway.

I always say I'll post in here more. Rarely does it ever happen on a consistent basis.
I really just have nothing to put here.
Doesn't mean I won't force it, though!
I went to see Harry Potter (finally!) on Thursday night with Andrew. Noted the lack of the actual explanation of wtf the title of the movie meant. I noticed some confused looks when Snape sort of just.. said it. Also noted the way Draco pranced around the whole movie in a suit with a new hairstyle. At least, I think it was new.
On a different note, I'm totally psyched for Katsucon in February. Otakon only just ended a week ago and already I'm thinking ahead to Katsucon. And the awesome Yu Yu Hakusho group we're doing. And the fact I get to dress up as a guy again. Kurama and Kurapika are pretty much mirrors of each other, anyway, so it'll be fun! I really want a rose-whip to beat people up with, though. Not Andrew this time, he's Yusuke. Not even.. anyone in our current group. We have no enemies. I think there will be more at Otakon next year though. Which we WILL be busting out these costumes again for.
Also, I'm doing Mukuro from Reborn! for Carrie. Who is also doing my Hiei in the YYH group. Eventually I will be the Sephiroth to her Cloud. Our respective boyfriends are thrilled.
I really just want a big Hunter x Hunter group.
I attempted to write a HxH songfic (god help me) last night. A shounen-ai fic. It's been so long since I've written outside the realm of roleplaying, it felt strange. It also felt strange because Kurapika/Kuroro isn't exactly canon. Nor are they even on good terms. Actually, I'm pretty sure that Kurapika wants to kill Kuroro and Kuroro wouldn't hesitate killing him, either. Canon..-ly speaking, anyway. Even if I posted it, I've taken several liberties already that don't have an established background (in my own writing). Other people write the couple great, but they have chapters upon chapters of build-up and establishing groundwork for the relationship and reasoning and all of the crap that makes it make sense.
I suppose that's never really stopped anyone before, though. Maybe I'll post it after it's been polished up. And I finish it. And I figure out WHAT TO DO with all of the repeating verses. It's my first stab at a song-fic. So what? Do you just skip those lines? I don't know.
I never knew I could write so much about nothing at all.
In other news, my little brother drilled a hole through my phone for me. Not the brightest idea, but it was only through the back cover, after I had already popped it off. It was purely in the interest of hanging the Kurapika charm. Leave it to me to get pretty much the ONLY phone in existence that doesn't have a spot to hang charms.
Alright. That's all she wrote.

Well, Otakon's not technically over, and we're still at the hotel.. but I wanted to share some of my Kurapika/Kuroro pictures with you that came out really good.
( God I love this pairing. )

| Squirrel |
[02 Mar 2009|03:45pm] |
Um, so, we had a squirrel in our walls for a few weeks now. My brother got a humane trap from one of his friends and set it up in the walls with peanut butter in it.
About 15 minutes ago, we discovered it in the trap, ( alive and kickin'! )
My mom decided that she wanted to give it some bread since it's been in our walls for so long. He took it ( very happily! )
I have more pictures, but I'm sure you've seen enough. xD; My brother then proceeded to let it go.

Katsucon was a nightmare. A crowded, line-filled nightmare.
Andrew and I got there Thursday, picked up our badges, which wasn't so bad, but by Friday, it was a clusterfuck of people. We cosplayed ( Gene/Melfina )
, and then changed into Saiyamen. No pictures here, though. My wigcap was frighteningly small so it was cutting off the blood to my head, all while Al had his Xenogears panel. I had to leave, cut some stockings up, and make a new wigcap. It felt so nice. xD; Saiyamen didn't last too long, and I changed into lolita. Megan came later in the day and she wore Victorian. We ate copious amounts of McDonald's and went to CVS.
Saturday morning, we changed into Chi-chi/Goku, but that didn't last long either, since Andrew was having wardrobe malfunctions. We changed out of that and wore normal clothes, and headed to the dealer room and to do random things. We tried to go see the masquerade, but the line was HUGE. So we decided not to. Later that night, ( we changed for the ball. )
However, there was a HUGE line for the ball too. We learned that they only let he first 450 people in for dance lessons, which was stupid, because everything was running late, no one knew about them, and we waited in line for an hour and a half. Andrew and I were ( at each other's throats. )
But eventually we got in and all was good. We went to bed without any dinner though, because it was so freakin' late by that time. Ah well.
The last day, we cleaned the room, packed, and checked out. Only to find that the school credit card Andrew's school used was DENIED. Wtf? We were scrambling, trying to call someone, anyone, called everyone from all three rooms down, until the lady came over to us and said all was well, the school just forgot to fax over the opposite side of the card, but they were allowed to run it anyway. Um. This was the first time anything like that had happened. Anyway, it got sorted out. We hit up the dealers room one last night, and even though we said we wouldn't get each other anything for Valentine's Day, I got Andrew a kid-Goku in a snowsuit toy thing, and he got me a ( Hunter x Hunter cell. )
We then re-grouped and ate more McDonald's with Andrew's friends, Matt, Carrie.. and someone I forget. All of the McDonald's ( turned us blue. )
Anyway, we then realized what time it was and scrambled to get back to PA for Kare's birthday party. There were mini-chicken fingers. And I clearly like ( ketchup. )
That was a few days ago. Now it's Wednesday. And while making ramen, I proceeded to be an idiot and ( burn my hand. )
It's actually a lot worse than the picture makes it out to be. Yay for being stupid and uncoordinated. Hot metal lids are hot.
Well fellas, that's all she wrote.

The SEME or UKE Quiz created with QuizFarm.com |
| You scored as The Optimistic UKE You are the kindest, most sweet, and cutest of all UKE kind. This is not really a bad thing, actually it's very good. You may be the lowest level of UKE but you are also the happiest and most adorable. You are often a fan of things you can snuggle with and cartoons will never grow boring for you. You smile a lot and nothing ever seems to get you down which makes you a great match for the Gentle SEME. Be warned, though, my Uke-friend.. rough times await you if a Homicidal SEME lingers too close. You would do well to befriend a Sorrowful UKE as I'm sure your happy-go-lucky attitude will balance out their depression. On my last note I will say that ropes, whips, and chains aren't your fancies even if they are tempting - I'd stick to just the simple stuff if I were you.
The Optimistic UKE | | 100% | The Gentle SEME | | 70% | The Breaker SEME | | 65% | The Sorrowful UKE | | 55% | The Homicidal SEME | | 40% | The Devilish UKE | | 40% |

My Meta Goblin print JSK came! On Wednesday! But I only picked it up yesterday! 'cause the postman didn't knock and I had to sign for it!
Anyway, onto the picture.
Clicky~
Please excuse the crappy blouse that I didn't button the sleeves of, bag lighting, bad camera angle, the fact I was holding a scrunchie and forgot about it, the fact I had just taken a shower and my hair looks like crap, and my face.
Concentrate on how PRETTY this thing is. ;;

|
[05 May 2008|08:51pm] |
Um.. so.. I went ahead and bought this JSK.
And I wonder why I have no money?
Now I just have to find a white blouse and I'll be all set. Preferably not brand, though. God knows I don't want to spend $80-$90 on the blouse.
In other news, my toads ate a TON tonight. They were pigs. Is it weird that I'm thrilled? They hardly ever eat - or if they do, I rarely see it - so feeding them one by one, 5/6 crickets for the girl, and then about the same for the boy? I'm happy. At least I know they're full. I had to stop though, since I don't know if they can eat themselves dead.

So Andrew and I are going to look at the dogs PetSmart has for adoption tomorrow. And try to find one he thinks his mom would like, bring her (preferably her) to his house, let his mom fall in love with her, and then commend ourselves on a job well done.
In all seriousness though, his mom wants a dog, she just doesn't want to admit it. That's where we step in.
And it gives me an excuse to play with them.
!!
I have to leave for class in a few minutes. YAY for Chemistry PLTL where the effing girl doesn't even know what she's doing or how much we know. She's all, "DO QUESTIONS BLAHBLAHBLAH." And we're all, "Um.. we didn't learn this yet." To which she responds with, "Oh. Okay. Then just do this one that you do know and you can leave."
I think I'm more excited to see the dogs than Andrew.
But the fact that I reeaally want a spring/summery lolita dress but have to pay car insurance is bringing me down. Most expensive clothes ever.

Pittsburgh was good times.
Went to the Carnegie Science Center, the zoo, Heinz field, and a bunch of other places. I won't elaborate, 'cause I'll be typing all night.
I bought this three drawer storage.. thing from my job today, in an attempt to un-clutter my room. And I proceeded to fill it with shit that wasn't in my room to begin with. I fail.
Andrew is coming tomorrow. Eeeeee!

[16 Aug 2007|09:07pm] |
Andrew came over on the 14th and 15th.
When he got to my dad's house, we decided the first thing we wanted to do was attempt to dye the leggings and turtleneck for my costume. But we didn't have a bucket or gloves. So we headed out to Drug Fair for them, and then to Wendy's, 'cause neither of us had eaten. So we got food and he got a Baconator for later in the day. We got back and he turned on crazy music. He had BBMack on his laptop. xD
So we dyed the clothes - a bit unsuccessfully because it spotted - and then went to work on actual costume. Cut the pieces out and sewed them together. Then the helmet.
This helmet involved lots of spray paint, duct tape and newspaper. We had to do it outside of the apartment complex, and people gave us lots of weird looks. xD Talked for a while in between sprays, and then found out at the end that it dripped between the newspaper sections we had divided. So then we had to scratch it off, and THEN we found out we sprayed too close to the visor and had to scratch that off, and we didn't angle some of the lines enough. xD;
We decided that it looked awfully ugly after the orange was scraped off. So we needed white spray paint. And we wanted to make the heart out of foam and go to the Rag Shop and see if they had any white fabric left. So we headed back to Hazlet. xD;
Went to Michael's and got the spray paint and foam and met this girl Cindy I used to go to high school with. Rag Shop was unsuccessful. My mom wanted to meet him though, so we stopped over there.
Then, in a moment of genius, my mom suggested I take a box of macaroni and cheese for dinner. And then Andrew offered to make it from SCRATCH! So naturally, I went with that. We stopped at Pathmark and ended up getting cheese, heavy cream, chicken and broccoli. xD;
OMG He's amazing in the kitchen. Which sort of sounds dirty, but I've never had that good of macaroni and cheese before. xD
We cleaned up and bummed around for a bit until Darren called us and told us he was home. Then I drove Andrew there and went back home.
The next day, I called Andrew at 10.45, 'cause he said for me to call him sometime between 10.30 and 11.00. He needed more time to sleep. xD; So he called back like an hour later and I picked him up.
My dad wasn't feeling too well, so we moved camp back to my mom's. We finished up the helmet and ordered food for.. brunch. Ate the food, then worked on the costume some more. I hemmed a few things and he attached the cape. We then went into my basement and worked on some of the poses. It's scary when you do things that involve falling backwards and hoping someone catches you. o_o;
Anyway, we cleaned up and then he decided he wanted sushi. xD; So we went to Shogun and I got to try it! It's definitely strange.. and it has odd textures. But we had California Rolls, Salmon Rolls and Dragon Rolls. And then fried ice cream! xD
I drove us back to my dad's and he decided he wanted to help me find a recital song for December. An anime song. A.. Japanese anime song. So we narrowed it down to a couple, "1000 Words" from FFX-2, "True Light" from DNAngel, and "Crisis Thesis Angel" from Evangelion.
He went home at roughly.. 10.50, and he called me right before I got in to my house. We talked for about an hour, and then at 2.30, he called to help me translate some symbols we found on sheet music from the songs we picked. xD; And talked until about 5.00.
I definitely have the best time ever when he's involved.
